I just bought a 1980's Vintage Roland CK100 (silver one) 3 way speaker keyboard amp, 23 years old, $800.00 new back then 15"/Horn/Tweeter....used it on stage last night & I gotta be honest it sounds better then anything I've used in the past for sure.....it has such a warmth, & wonderful, full robust sound for vocals & keyboard that new Amps cannot compare too, Power is terrific with super coverage & a killer Bottom End being they go down to 38khz ....and I have used many TOTL ones including the Bose Pas, Mackie 450's, Barbetta, Ramsa, JBL, etc, etc, ......Fran has 4 of these units & now I know why....
If I could only find another one to make a pair I'd buy it in a minute NUFF SAID! WOW!

Some old pieces of gear are COOL! I still use an old Standel 4 channel head I got new in 1966, and old 1982 Peavy 4 channel head, some very heavy Kustom PA cabinets I got in 1979.

Not all the time, but, ocassionally, it's neat to pull it out. Sounds surprisingly good, considering no active EQ, only 1/4" connections, etc.

And, remember, I'm STILL playing two MS-60's I got back in 1993 and a B-3 regularly. Plus, my favorite gigging guitar is a 1952 ES 295.

Got lots of "old fart" equipment I still love!

I'll agree with you there Donny. Sometimes you can't beat the old gear for sound. I suppose the best of both worlds would be the warmth of some of the tube gear we used to use combined with all of the choices and options we get with the new stuff. Then you would have something really unique. The quest goes on baby...............

Fran.....loves these amps which he will NEVER part with, he had 5 cube 100's plus two Cube 60's ....I bought the odd one ...so he remains secure with four 2 & 2 backup units plus two small ones for small gigs...this is for his solo, & duo gigs....with the band they use a full Yorkville sound system with Powered tops & Powered subs etc, etc, on stage.... They are not easy to find ...but I'm looking hard.
I also have some new sound gear coming in next week that I purchased Yorkville NX 750P.....I'm also waiting for the Tc Helicon Harmony M module due in May also.

I sure wish I still had my old B3 and Leslie. I sure as hell wouldn't haul them around on jobs, but I'd love to hear that sound again.

Some of the older gear I was luggin' around 30 years ago was really cool--great sounds, rocked the house, and probably blew out some ear drums at the time. However, they weighed more than me, it took multiple trips to the van to drag the gear into the venue with a refrigerator dolly, and some of the speakers weighed as much as refrigerator. Yep, those were the good old days, and while it was fun back then, I'm sure glad they're nothing more than fond memories. I' for one, will stick with the new, lightweight sound systems. Guess I must be getting old!

Not far behind you, Gary. So glad my B has a permanent homeattached to about 30 gigs a year.

I have had it moved for one-nighters with the Philharmonic, but they paid for it and it was for a large charity/fundraising event.

I'd retire it to my front room if I ever had to move it.

...I've performed 2 big gigs using my 23 year old Roland Cube CK-100 .....& let me say that it sounds wonderful......Im so glad I bought this...at a great price may I add.....at least now I know I have a super backup amp for my new Yorkie system ....man If I could only find another Roland Cube Ck100 I'd buy one in a minute......if anyone knows who's selling one let me know please I love these things.
